Positive Restraint
Purpose: Gentle restraint established positive leadership.
Steps to Success: Go slowly to prevent fear and reactivity. Use cookie acceptance as “stressometer” (if pup accepts cookie he/she is not stressed). Hold puppy still on your lap or table. Begin with lateral (on their side) restraint, then move on to dorsal (on their back) restraint. Claim the right to restrain the dog for life. Owner’s goal is to have the pup fall asleep.
