Steve Sosebee| The Power of of positive action

The ability of individuals to mobilize communities to play a positive role in the lives of children in continents away can save lives and rebuild futures. In this talk, Steve Sosebee explains how meeting a maimed child 20 years ago in Jerusalem has resulted in a global effort to treat thousands more sick and injured children.

Steve Sosebee is the co-founder and President of the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund, a non-profit, non-political American NGO working to address the medical needs of children in the Middle East. He worked in the past as a journalist for the Washington Report on Middle East Affairs.

The theme for TEDxDubai 2010 is REBOOT. But what does it mean?

For the technology addicts, it is a way to prompt a fresh start. Sometimes there is nothing else one can do other than start again.

REBOOT is sometimes forced upon us, so we should celebrate and share the events that prompt a fresh start, the failures that inspire new ventures and the ideas worth spreading from that journey.

When we Reboot we embrace failure and celebrate it as an opportunity to Re-think, Re-start.
——————————————————————
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.

At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group.

These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event.

The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

Our event is call TEDxDubai, where x=independently organized TED event.
